WATCH: Drake Surprises In Toronto To Sing “I Want It That Way” With Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys may have just added drake as an honorary sixth member of the band.

During their DNA World Tour date at the Budweiser Stage in Ontario on Saturday evening (July 2), Drake joined the award-winning boy band on stage to perform their iconic hit, “I Want It That Way,” in front of a sold- out crowd in the rapper’s hometown of Toronto.

Prior to singing the classic tune from Backstreet Boys’ 1999 album, Millennium, Drake explained to that audience why the song means so much to him.

“At 13 years old, I had a bar mitzvah, and at my bar mitzvah, for the first time in my life, this girl I was in love with came up to me while one of the greatest songs in the world was playing, and she asked me if I would dance with her,” Drake explained, before adding, “It was the first time I ever felt acknowledged, and it was the first time I ever felt like, you know, I had a shot at being cool. ”

“If she can see me now, you know what I’m talking about?” Drake concluded before he and the popular boy band went on to perform “I Want It That Way.”

In the midst of the performance, Howie Dorough even paid tribute to the rapper by adding in a verse from Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” which Drake seem to really like as he was all smiles pointing at him.

Following their performance, Nick Carter took to social media to gush over the evening.

“Thanks to @champagnepapi the KING of Canada for making tonight one for the books,” Carter wrote. “Toronto we love you!”

Backstreet Boys, composed of Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell, kicked off their DNA World Tour in April of 2022 with a four-date residency in Las Vegas.

Produced by Live Nation, the DNA World Tour continues through late fall, where the Backstreet Boys will wrap up their tour with shows in Europe.
