Hangman Page crucifies Adam Cole on Good Friday to retain the AEW world title

Hangman Page defended the AEW World Championship against Adam Cole in the main event of tonight’s (April 15) episode of Fury. It wasn’t just another standard title match like the one they had last month Revolution. No, this time it was a Death Match in Texas. This means that all is well and the match can only be won by submission or knockout (not being able to resist the referee’s 10 count).

With such a clause, this match would have had high levels of violence. Both men started rocking steel chairs, where Cowboy Adam proved to be more skilled. He beat Cole to death in the beginning, dragging him over the barricade in the crowd, smashing him in the head with a drink and taking him back to the ring for a moon jump assisted by a steel chair.

The level of violence only increased from there. I don’t think Cole’s backbone will be the same again after this nasty bump on the steel chairs:

After Cole told the cowboy about personal junk, Page got mad and wiped it out with the Buckshot Lariat. He tied Cole’s wrist to the ropes and carried a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire into the ring. It looked like he was going to crucify Cole, but Page’s baby face couldn’t go all the way and instead dropped the chair. He untied Cole and Cole immediately landed a blow as low as the snake he is.

Page wouldn’t make the same mistake a second time. He used barbed wire to give Cole a crown of thorns on Good Friday, and then finished it off with Deadeye across a table:

And that’s right, Hangman Page is still your AEW world champion.
